Tell the Judge to (Kindly) Shut UP

NOT an actual judge…let me be clear.  I am talking about the judge that lives in our heads.  It is that constant voice that “judges” us along with those around us.  Pay attention to how many times a day you tell yourself that you are not good enough, that you messed up again, that no one will ever love you, etc… if you truly keep track you may be VERY surprised at the number of times these kinds of statements roll around in your head…each statement followed by the wack of the gavel.  As if that makes it true.

The goal of course is to have counter statements that you can tell the Judge..but be kind.  The Judge is a part of you after all.  It is there to take care of you although it is sadly waaaaayyyyy off the mark and way past term.

When the Judge goes unchecked we are left with feelings of anger, fear, guilt, and shame that are as painful as they are pervasive.  These emotions can wear us down physically, mentally, and spiritually as we carry around such heavy weight.  Think of how freeing it would be to silence the Judge?

Here is a fabulous TedTalk that expands on this idea.  What couldn’t you do if you actually believed you were worthy?
