As human beings we are good at compartmentalizing our feelings and the various parts of our lives. It makes sense why we have to use this brain based ability in order to navigate the day to day. We have to be able to function at work, at home, and with our children regardless of what we may be going through behind the scenes.
We learn to tamp our emotions so we can show up to work, greet our next client, and we still find the energy to attend the school events and celebrations after a long day. Over time this ability to put things away can become increasingly difficult because there is only so much room to compartmentalize.
Be intentional about finding space to let it out, process through it, and find those spaces where you can take off the mask. Making room when we can allows us to move forward with our lives. If you need help find a counselor to help you process out some things so they no longer take up brain space.
You are doing a great job…and it is time to take care of you. You are worth it.
